What is different about Bawburgh Golf Club and Junior Golfing?

Here at Bawburgh Golf Club we are extremely proud of what we have to offer to all junior golfers, ranging from the complete beginner, to the more accomplished player. We have a number of county level junior golfers at our club as well as many first time golfers.

Bawburgh is accredited with the English Golf Unions GolfMark High Achiever status. To achieve this we undertook an external examination to ensure our procedures and practices are at the leading edge of those the EGU feel provide the best support for young golfers and minority golfing groups.

The club won ‘GolfMark Club of the Year’ in 2012 as recognition for its dedication to junior and beginner golf.

Consequently, at Bawburgh, juniors get the most extensive playing rights possible in the safest environment.

We are in Partnership with Easton College who run the EGUs two year golf programme leading to NVQ qualifications. Easton College are one of only ten in the country to do this and Bawburgh are pleased to be supporting the golfing and career development of Norfolk’s elite juniors.

Within the standard subscription as well as access to the established 18 hole course and Glen Lodge’s practice facilities, a 9 hole beginners course and extensive practice and equipment facilities at Norwich Family Golf Centre are available. We have six professional golfers to provide coaching tailored to individual’s needs with an additional PGA professional teaching Junior Golf Lessons exclusively.

A big part of our plan is to get new young golfers through to CONGU handicap level and for Bawburgh to be an attractive proposition for CONGU juniors to call their Home club. We run more by number and variety of competitions and encourage juniors to play in the full suite of junior, mixed and adult events.

Finally, on price we believe our rates are competitive. The Bawburgh members provide £750 of budget to the Junior Section each year and receive additional EGU funds for coaching. This means that our active junior members receive prizes and coaching to a value of over £40 each – for many that’s 50% or more of their annual subscription.

Our junior organiser, Andrew Cullington, will be pleased to provide more details if required. Contact Andrew on 01603 898311 or ajcully@btinternet.com.
