Mixed Section

Bawburgh’s Mixed Section plays a very active part in the club. There are regular competitions where everybody gets the opportunity to play with other members in a friendly but competitive environment. The 2008 season is now underway and is being organised by Pat and Ev Warnes. Information is available below covering:-

Friendly Matches

Bawburgh Mixed Section plays a number of friendly matches against clubs in the area giving you a chance to see some other courses.

Mixed Knock Out Pairs

The main Mixed Section competition is the Knock Out Pairs played as a foursomes match play tournament over a number of rounds. The 2007 winners were Brenda and Chris Mace who defeated Annie Langstaff and John Barnard in a close fought final.

Mixed Competitions

Bawburgh hosts an annual Mixed Open competition.

In 2007 there was bright sunshine for the day and 46 couples entered from a variety of clubs throughout Norfolk and Suffolk to play a Greensomes Stableford competition.

Good comments were received during the day about the excellent condition of the course, the day in general and the carvery meal. Hopefully, the enthusiasm of this year's entrants will result in another good field in 2008.

The winners of the competition came from Gorleston Golf Club - Angus and Sue Smith - with a most commendable 42 points.

As always the success of the day owed much to the many volunteers who helped out during the day.

In 2007 Bawburgh club members were not able to enter this competition but instead had the opportunity of entering a Mixed Invitation Day (29th April) with their guests. The success of both events is likely to see this arrangement continue in future years.
